Daniel Nourse – Head Coach

Daniel Nourse has made outstanding contributions to the growth of lacrosse in Northern California with extensive coaching and an active role, including past president, in the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association, an organization with over 600 clubs and 12,000 players.  He has coached several all-star and travel teams including The Junior Stealth, USA West 2005 U19, 2006 NCJLA U13 all stars and  the Nor Cal Braves.

Currently Dan is the men’s head coach at the University of California, Berkeley where he was a 2009 finalist for coach of the year in the Men’s College Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division 1.

Having played in high school, Dan was captain and all league his senior year at Bucknell University.  He continued his ten time all-star playing career with the Golden Gate Lacrosse Club from 1974 to 1990 and is a past participant in the Vail Elite, Masters and Grand Masters Tournaments.

 

Brian Ledyard – Offensive Coordinator

Brian grew up in Raleigh, NC where he was a three-sport varsity athlete, playing football, basketball, and lacrosse. He went on to play football at Tufts University, contributing mainly as a special teams player and defensive back for the Jumbos.

Brian began his career in education in 2002 as an English teacher and three-season coach at Gilman School in Baltimore, MD. Brian is grateful for the tremendous support and mentoring he received during his eight years at Gilman, and he credits Gilman’s current varsity lacrosse staff and many other influential coaching colleagues for his understanding of the game.

In addition to teaching English and beginning a lacrosse program at Drew School in San Francisco, Brian is enjoying his first season as Cal’s Offensive Coordinator. He looks forward to continuing Cal’s proud tradition.

 

Ed Hill – Defensive Coordinator

Originally from Baton Rouge La, coach Hill and his family moved to Berkeley CA,  in 1991 where it would take 7 years for lacrosse to find its way into his life. Since then it’s been lax all year round. First starting in t he Berkeley juniors club then playing 4 yrs at Berkeley High School.

It didn’t take long for his coaching career to begin. In the fall of 2002 and spring of 03’ he spent the time on the sidelines as an assistant coach for the Piedmont High School Jv team. The following year he joined Berkeley Highs boys varsity team as an assistant, where he would be for the next 2 years.

In the fall of 2007 Coach Hill joined the lacrosse staff at UC Berkeley for 2 years as an assistant coach. In 2009 coach Hill returned to Berkeley High School as the Boys Varsity head coach, winning Coach of the year and finishing 4th in the NCS standing. Over the 3 seasons at Berkeley High the Jackets won 3 straight BSAL league titles regaining its place among the elite lacrosse high school programs in the bay area.

Coach Hill has spent his summers and falls coaching on various all star teams and at local camps, including USA West 2009 U19, Golden Gate Elite, and AllWest Camps.

 

Brian Rutherford – Conditioning Coach

Coach Rutherford, an Oakland native, is very passionate about his work and is as motivated as they come. His coaching philosophies include the importance of being committed, consistent, and always finishing strong. He trains athletes to have the physical strength and mental courage to win the hard fought 4th quarter battles.
