Yamada Earns Sciutto #4 Jersey
BERKELEY, CA
The Cal Men's Lacrosse program is proud to announce that Doug Sciutto's #4 will be worn during the 2025 season by senior captain, Joel Yamada (Defense, Peninsula Palos Verdes HS, CA).
For his three-plus years as a Golden Bear, Joel has consistently demonstrated the qualities of courage, commitment and selflessness that have become synonymous with the spirit of Doug Sciutto. A business major and a 2024 First Team All--WCLL selection, Joel has maximized his 5' 8", 160 pound frame by dedicating himself to the weight room, elevating his strength and conditioning which has created a unique versatility to stand toe to toe with much larger offensive players while also staying step for step with smaller, quicker attackmen.
As an interesting side story, Ethan Pavlet (Defense, Palma HS, CA), who wore #4 during the 2024 season and returned to Cal this fall to earn his master's in Mechanical Engineering, decided to relinquish the #4 so that someone else could feel the honor and power of wearing Doug's number. Ethan's selfless act has proven yet again that he is sincerely about the Team and the greater good of Cal Men's Lacrosse.
Every player, parent, alumnus and fan of this program, should be happy and proud that the 2025 Golden Bears are led by such fine young men and upstanding leaders as Ethan and Joel.
